What is Sokoon?

Sokoon is the Arabic word for stillness, tranquility and calm...

Through sacred music gatherings, wellness retreats, support groups and holistic resources, our goal is to foster a community that strives to listen to its inner voice, decode the language of the cosmos and live in harmony with the messages that it sends.

Non-profits and organizations interested in culturally sensitive wellness services are welcome to check our capacity building and grant writing packages.

What We Offer?

"You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop"

Rumi.

We help you quiet the external noise so you can listen to the ocean within. Spiritual Chanting, Nature Talks, Guided Meditation and Capacity Building for non-profits are some of our tools/services.

Meet Sokoon's Founder

Dr. Amira Kotb

Hi and thank you for visiting!

My name is Amira and I am an Equity and Wellness Consultant based in Sacramento, California. With a PhD in International Development (Hautes Etudes Internationales - Laval University- Canada) and a Masters in Comparative Politics (Institut d'Etudes Politiques - Aix-en-Provence- France), I have supported governmental officials and non-profit leaders in designing policies and programs across a range of areas, including human rights, equity and wellness, social justice, mental health, refugee resettlement and social services. Before starting my consultancy business, I founded and managed my own non-profit, managed a refugee resettlement program in Sacramento and was the Vice President of Business Development (mainly doing grant writing among other things) for another refugee non-profit.

When I am not doing the more technical policy work, I like to explore nature's sacred spaces and educate others about these hidden sanctuaries. So, not only do I speak Arabic, French and English (with a tiny bit of Hebrew), I speak nature and music (yes, those are languages too!). Drawing on this passion, I have developed several Outdoor and Music based programs that use nature and sound for healing and restoration. Want to learn more? Shoot me an email at amira@sokoon.love

And no, I have not always lived in the US. You could say that I am a global citizen. Countries that I lived in or visited include Egypt, Djibouti, Gaza, Israel, France, Yemen, Morocco, Romania, Canada and Turkey. Let's connect, I'd love to hear from you!
